Bringing Innovation from Israel to European Energy Market

E.ON Runs the First Pilots with Israeli Startup Indegy

20. August 2019 Düsseldorf

In December last year, 7 startups cropped up to present their innovative cyber security solutions to E.ON industry leaders during the first E.ON corporate challenge in the heart of Tel Aviv. The corporate challenge aimed to find the best IT startups, able to overcome cyber challenges around energy network assets and E.ON’s digital landscape. Now, over half a year later, we can already pick fruit of successful cooperation with companies from the Startup Nation.

Israeli startups have proven that the distance of 4000 kilometers is no obstacle. The winner of the cyber security corporate challenge, Indegy, has launched the first pilots with E.ON in Czech Republic and Sweden just months after the event and has quickly made a valuable contribution in protecting E.ON operation networks from cyber threats.

The startup has been closely working with E.ON CISO teams in Sweden, Czech and Germany to perform a comprehensive asset detection which then served as base for a continual and almost real-time vulnerability and risk assessment.

“Indegy has found a solution that allows us not only to identify the devices by listening, but also to proactively query them and get additional information,” Rene Rindermann, Chief Information Security Officer at E.ON, says. “It is not only valuable for information security team, but also for colleagues, who are operating those assets.”

Co-founder and CTO of Indegy Mille Gandelsman confirms: “The pilot results showed that Indegy's product is highly applicable for E.ON's environments in several different countries. We are glad that E.ON joins the list of happy Indegy users that acknowledged the benefits of the device integrity active querying and are using it to its full extent".

Indegy pilot in Sweden is just a start. The startups s running a parallel pilot in Czech Republic and is planning to expand its scope to other countries.
