On a warm Tuesday evening, over 150 guests have gathered in Düsseldorf to celebrate energy innovation. The evening marked a small anniversary – for the 15th time the :agile accelerator startups have presented their business cases to the industry experts.
9 startups pitched at the entech DEMO:DAY on May 14th. 5 of them, MOQO, Preisenergie, Quant Co., FlexiDAO and Othermo, have graduated the latest :agile accelerator class. They were accompanied by two guest startups from :agile Danish counterpart, AIROUT and Polisensio, and two startups, ChargeX and Visesnys, from previous :agile classes.
The overflowing topic of the DEMO:DAY this time was sustainability. The startups presented solutions that tackle sustainable development challenges such as air pollution, climate change, energy transformation, urban infrastructure and many more.
To strengthen the commitment to E.ON´s green mission and the Sustainable Development Goals, the entech DEMO:DAY was carbon neutral – for the very first time. To make it happen, :agile accelerator has acquired shares in climate protection projects corresponding to the calculated volume of CO2 during the event - 22 tons.
Making the entech DEMO:DAY carbon neutral was not the only novelty this May. For the first time, the :agile team introduced the startups, investors and E.ON colleagues with an exclusive match-making opportunity. Over 50 one-on-one meetings took place during the event. Not only the startups had a chance to be matched with E.ON colleagues and investors, but also the investors and E.ON experts to each other.
“We wanted to open the doors for collaboration and direct exchange between startups, investors and energy experts from E.ON,” says Samuel Gerlach, Venture Developer at :agile accelerator and the initiator of the match-making sessions. “At :agile we do not only work with outstanding startups, but also experts from E.ON. There was a high interest from both startups and investors to gain insights from the industry leaders.”
